On the evening of June 5, sappers of the 31st engineering and sapper regiment under the command of Lieutenant Syvy and Senior Lieutenant Goncharov worked at the HPP.

According to headquarters officers, the 31st engineering and sapper regiment (military unit 31777, city of Prokhladny, Kabardino-Balkaria) was actually stationed in the Novaya Kakhovka area. The unit specializes in creating transitions and mining operations.

It is also known that the HPP dam was mined back in October 2022, when the Russian Armed Forces were either preparing to defend Kherson or withdraw from it.
