Looks like the Astiga website is not reachable again. First of all: sorry. But this isn't under our control I don't think.

Looks like *all* .ga domains are not resolving right now.

My suspicion is that this is related to https://www.afnic.fr/wp-media/uploads/2023/05/ga-domain-names-soon-to-return-to-Gabonese-management-1.pdf - The Gabonese government is taking over management of the .ga TLD from Freenom (who mis-managed it) - although the takeover date is still in two day's time.

I'm going to copy these posts from Twitter here, because I know our Mastodon followers don't even want so much as to *sniff* the Twitter domain 😆 -👇️

Ok, going to start working on a workaround... I'll try pointing astiga.audio to the Astiga servers instead. Note that this *won't* fix the app, because that's hardcoded to asti.ga.

astiga.audio is now pointed to our servers. I've enabled the website config on the server so that it should be able to serve the site, in principle. However, SSL not done yet...
SSL now working and https://astiga.audio should be visible - as should https://community.astiga.audio . However, the web app itself at "play." doesn't work yet. Looking at that next.
Astiga - Your online cloud music player

Easily play back the music that is stored on your cloud service, directly in your browser or on your phone. A music streaming service for your own music.

I can now log in at https://play.astiga.audio/ and play music. Can others do the same and let me know what's not working?
Astiga

Play your music directly to the browser. Connect directly to your cloud storage and play, no external programs needed!

Remaining items (that I know of):

- The community seems to redirecting to asti.ga still. I think the config of custom domains in Vanilla is internal to its database, but will return to this.
- Update links to asti.ga in the website and play app

A summary of the current status:
- astiga.audio should be working as a temporary workaround.
- The community is not working yet.
- Sync and adding storage accounts should be working.
- The Android app isn't working.

Please let us know about other issues you find.

We're going to wait until shortly after the 7th to decide what to do about asti.ga. There's a possibility it's gone forever. #ANINF have said they will migrate domains on the 7th, so it's worth waiting.

A workaround for the Android app is to use a different #SubSonic Android app such as @SymfoniumMusic , #DSub or #Ultrasonic
I'm cautiously optimistic we've managed to repurchase the asti.ga domain. However, configuration of the domain may still take 24 hours or more, so the Android app will still be nonoperational for a day.
Good news: https://asti.ga is now operational. I've got to make some tweaks to get the web app working again, and that will mean it will become unavailable from https://astiga.audio once more - sorry about that.

aaaaaand... we're back!

(The web app should now be back up at https://play.asti.ga and the mobile app should now be working again).

Astiga

Play your music directly to the browser. Connect directly to your cloud storage and play, no external programs needed!

I've written up a summary of the downtime and next steps here: https://community.asti.ga/discussion/599/asti-ga-downtime-4th-6th-june-2023/
asti.ga downtime - 4th-6th June 2023

From the morning of 4th June until the afternoon of 6th June, asti.ga was completely unavailable.

Astiga Community

@astiga

So you own the site or are a cofounder?

@KitsuneLol I own it, but I purchased the service a couple of years ago from the original founder.

@astiga

Aw. I see. So how big is the site? Need help advertising or anything?

@KitsuneLol Not sure how to quantify "big" - but all help is gratefully received. Please email [email protected] (that should work now 🤣 )

@astiga

More than 100 users, sir.

I like helping people.

I can help advertise if you want.

@KitsuneLol We have fewer than 100 paying users, yes. Adding the free trial users probably takes us into that kind of area.

@astiga

And how much is the cost? Btw, I emailed you (my email is [email protected])

@astiga

Did my research and it is about $5.00 USD monthly which is actually pretty cheap.

@astiga as said many times before, kuddos for keeping everyone in the loop and doing what you could to keep things running.

Issues happen anywhere, and for something the size of #Astiga it's unexpectable to have the uptime precautions big companies use. This qoute from you however, sums up quite nicely why I'd still prefer a company like yours over #BigTech:

"Services where the customers and suppliers work together are those that develop for mutual benefit, and everyone wins."

@Cambion Love it; thanks. 🙂
