Surprising how quickly the first herb harvest of the year comes around. Air drying herbs is the best way to preserve them. From right to left: Lovage, Greek oregano (x 2), Savoury, Marjoram and Moroccan mint.

@artistsgarden Another Savoury fan, hello. So easy to grow and eat. I’ve not tried to grow lovage yet. Does the flavour hold up well when you dry it?
@KT Yes, it does. Beautifully so.
@artistsgarden I've never tried air-drying herbs in bunches. My mum in Germany used to try herbs spread on newspaper in the attic. Living in Britain, I've always used a dehydrator. Now I live in Bulgaria where the climate is much drier than in Britain, maybe I should look into hanging herbs up to air-dry.
@Rayne_Hall_Author When I started growing herbs, I used the microwave to dry them. Works really well but is an enormous burden for our planet. So I tried hanging them from the ceiling. Looks good, smells lively and works really well.
@artistsgarden Thanks. I didn't realise it's possible to dry herbs in the microwave. I agree hanging herbs from the ceiling is the most natural method. I may look into this for next year. (The best time to harvest herbs here in Bulgaria is around 1 May.)
