Summer is here and so are the fines

The sunshine finally passed what must be lengthy post brexit border checks, and we have warmth in the UK. Finally. Also feeling warmth, but more the fires of the wrath of the FTC, is Amazon this week. I am glad to see Amazon fined for the abuse of customer data via Ring cameras. The fine won’t matter to them but the loss of all those datasets will. I dislike the way Ring cameras are promoted to the public as reliable and safe and cheap. The sad fact is that so many IOT devices lack security and privacy by design. I am also concerned at the layoffs on trust and safety teams that we seem to see everywhere now.
