Yesterday’s Opel Diplomat B (blue car) had a rather staid look but the same mechanical package, albeit on a shortened wheelbase, was available in the altogether sportier, more elegant form of the #Bitter CD coupé (silver car, #TechnoClassica 2014), produced by race driver and tuner turned car-maker Erich Bitter, who collaborated closely with #Opel for several decades. Opel had already trailed the idea with design studies of its own, including one from #Frua. #WeirdCarMastodon #davidsdailycar
@davidwilkins Terry Wogan loved the Bitter he owned. Shame they didn’t sell more.
@Meilyr Thanks - interesting. Didn’t realise he’d been a Bitter owner! I’ll post another couple of cars with a slightly less obvious Bitter connection over the next few days.
@davidwilkins the Diplomat and the Nova have always looked very similar to me. Both could be had with a 327 cu in Chevy motor yet the Nova was an economy car and the Diplomat a luxury car. Admittedly the Diplomat is way bigger! A maxi Nova of sorts.

@gpowerf I see what you mean but I think that Nova looks even more like this, the Opel Rekord A:
