Let's be clear about what #Google's decision to permit election fraud videos to return to #YouTube really means. Election denialism led DIRECTLY to the horrors of Jan 6. By claiming that such videos are just like any other form of political speech, Google is wittingly or unwittingly ENDORSING that violence into the future. Unfortunately, it's that simple. And as someone who loves YouTube, I am both disappointed and disgusted. -L

@lauren I agree. Also been noticing an uptick in recommends/promotion for fascist/extremist content (from Christofascist preachers/apologists etc, all the way to the usual right wing asshats) in clean searches - including for stuff like mental health questions or such

@lauren I really wish Google (and other companies who are trying to "walk the line" of "balance" and "not alienating customers") would realize fascists are a fickle and unwinnable audience - they *will* turn on each other, on you, on whatever makes them mad, they extend no good faith, only violence and threats, etc.

Trying to please them (and the conservatives who are them in their larval stage) is an inherently bad business decision because it leaves you constantly chasing them for attention and following them into their snake pit to do so.

(Also, please don't take this as my being pro-capitalism - I hate capitalism and feel it needs to be abolished. At the same time, if you're a capitalist monolith like Google that can and will do whatever you want - that means having the power to shut fascist shit down, and it is a choice to allow it.)
