@grumble209 @gsuberland Of course! The billionaires provide just enough value that some of the populace looks the other way. For those, the billionaires control just enough information to keep that part of the populace at war with the rest.

@gsuberland Better: Therefore, a billionaire must never exist.
We should all be held accountable.
@danielsreichenbach @gsuberland Set a 100% tax rate at that level of income/wealth.
Any excess beyond that limit goes to the betterment of society. They can reinvest in their other employees or they can give it up as taxes but they can't keep it.
@gooba42 @danielsreichenbach @gsuberland Yeah. I think the post was meant to be pure snark, but I think it is actually the beginning of a metric for certain government policies around "too big to fail" entities.
If the wealth of an entity prevents a government from holding that entity responsible, that wealth needs to be redistributed.
Maybe that's as simple as corporate restructuring as an antitrust settlement. Maybe as complex as military seizure of real property and transfer to commons.
@BoydStephenSmithJr @danielsreichenbach @gsuberland At this point the options are basically "Follow the same precedent of doing nothing that's failed us so far." vs. "Do something unprecedented".
The reluctance of modern politicians, judges, Lawyers, etc. to shake up a broken status quo is appalling.
@gooba42 @danielsreichenbach @gsuberland A 93% (US) income tax on the entities at the top tax bracket is not unprecedented, and I think could help.
But, I still hold a hope that incremental change is possible. I have a strong preference for it over revolution; revolution scares me. (And, yes, I know people like me might be inhibiting a necessary revolution.)
@BoydStephenSmithJr @danielsreichenbach @gsuberland I don't want to need a revolution but I really think we're running short of options.
The relevant regulatory bodies all appear to be captured by the entities we most need reined in.
Well played Sir! Very well played ππ
β¦ therefore the billionaire class must be run out of town on a rail (of taxes).
@gsuberland The preview ends at "Therefore A Billionaire Must Never".
Which is also good :D!
@hengstenberg @gsuberland @vonFriedland
If you can make 1 million dollars a year and save it. You'll be a billionaire in one thousand years.
