Oh my goodness. So much drama today. So embarrassing. Multiple cramping episodes and one great fall... just walking* up a steep incline.
Scraped one elbow.
I wasn't even pushing my heavy #bike... or any bike. π€¦ββοΈ
One of the gents had offered to push my bike up the hill. I was going to get his light bike and push it. Didn't even get to his bike. I just fell. With a cramping right calf. That was not fun. π
I opted to take a tricycle* up the steep hill. It was 50 pesos well-spent. π

Salted crisps? You mean potato chips? I like that remedy. π
I did try to stay hydrated. I think it was due to overexertion. It's a new group to me and they ride faster. They did say it's okay to be slow and they'd adjust for me, but I was right behind the leader and we had a wide gap between us. I felt bad and tried to keep up. Overdid it. βΉοΈ
And they didn't take enough breaks. That's one big different thing they do compared to my favorite #bike group.
@evelyn The cramping might have happened because your body needed fuel during the ride. Check up on eating and drinking while on rides, especially the longer ones. There are different kinds of things people will eat while riding in order to increase energy and prevent cramps.
Don't feel too bad about it though. Happens to everyone now and then. π π΄
@Wayves
Hmm π€ Let's see.
During my 84km ride (15-hour day ride), I consumed:
2 700ml bottles of water
2 600ml bottles Mountain Dew
1 iced Vietnamese coffee with milk
1 ham pastry of some sort
1 π·π³π meal (only ate half the serving of rice, it wasn't good)
1 π con hielo π§
about 1.5 glasses of water
I'm Β±62 kilos. Average-ish. Normal BMI with a tendency to overeat. π
You think what I had that day was enough? π΄ββοΈ

@evelyn Just saw this post. I had a lot of cramps in cycling context, until I discovered I was missing salt.
I sweat a lot, so I lose a lot of salt during my activities. Drinking only water was not enough to hydrate. I began adding good isotonic drinks and salty snacks to the hardest/longest rides. Worked really well.
@evelyn some more information here:
@katan
Yeah. I should just eat chips as a quick snack.
I usually go for some kind of ham and bread, or cheese and bread, or slice of loaf π. And soda to get some sugar. I just thought it was more useful to eat that way on long rides. Totally neglected the salt. π
Thanks! π
