@JPEGuin Any plans to add other racing series? I’d specifically love to see F2, F3, F1 Academy, Formula E and Extreme E
@dkb I shall look into adding them!
@JPEGuin Nice! Live data might be a bit harder, but having even just the schedules would be awesome
@JPEGuin @stroughtonsmith oh damn this is cool! Downloading now
@daniel Excited for you to try it!
@JPEGuin here's a quick thought: I didnt realize the “get pro" button was a button, and only accidentally tapped it. And I didnt realize the app could include any live features until I did. I’d love for you to market that more aggressively
@daniel Ooh thanks for the heads up! I'll see what I can do
@daniel @JPEGuin @stroughtonsmith damn this is good! My first app, @nextGP has some catching up to do.
@JPEGuin @stroughtonsmith this is fantastic! I’d been slowly chipping away at a simple app for myself to get some of this info easily accessible on my phone because it’s something I’ve wanted so much. This is so much more than I had ever envisioned and it all looks really well done. Thanks for making this!
@DaveBarry That's so incredibly kind, thank you!
@JPEGuin didn’t want to go for that ‘race condition’ pun?
@JPEGuin Am I right in thinking there’s supposed to be live data when you have Pro? Kinda looks like the app thinks the session is already over, though the quoted time suggests FP3 hasn’t started yet when it has. I’m guessing a good ol’ time zone bug? 😅
@JPEGuin very cool app! I appreciate that you don’t show session results without me digging into them, as I usually watch on delay. However, on iPad (I have mini 6), the map doesn’t rotate to the track properly. Instead, it’s hidden behind the lower pane

@stroughtonsmith thanks for the #showcase!

@stroughtonsmith Just added iCloud sync to my app Gamery last week, which was harder than expected with Core Data, but now it's ready for iPad support which is also coming soon. It’s aiming to be the most beautiful video game collection app and feel like Apple could have made it.

@nicoreese @gamery I was interested in this, but the 3.5 year fee for the app ($13 a year for 3.5 years pays for the app) feels exorbitant for something that I can do from a simple text file. Since I’m unwilling to rent software and this is where the fee is at to purchase it…. I’ll just continue to use a text file. :)
@Verxion As it stands now, Gamery provides me with a monthly recurring revenue of <$50. Luckily, being an indie developer is not my only job, otherwise I could not do this at all. I simply can’t offer a lifetime option for less, otherwise the recurring revenue would be even lower. I also wished we were still in 2010 where I could offer this at a one-time $5 purchase and thousands of people would buy it, but that's just not the case any more in today's landscape.
@nicoreese Yeah, at your current rental prices I can see why the income would be so low. I get that you can’t charge $5 too. No real path to fix it I don’t think. Sucks. :(

@nicoreese @stroughtonsmith @gamery Hi Nico, Steves showcase (and actually also opening your app) gave me the idea to record my first thoughts of the apps posted here. So I made a short video, recording my first launch experience with Gamery! Forgive me the unsolicited feedback, but I hope you might find it interesting! Keep on the good work!

First Launch Experience: FLE01 - "Gamery - Game Tracker"

YouTube
@TomHu That's a nice video. Reminds me of the early 2010s where those kind of videos were more common. It's so interesting to see the reaction from other users, as you become so accustomed to your own apps as a developer, that you just overlook so much. I'll definitely take a look at the UI issues with localization. It was also fun to hear you try pronouncing my name, it's just a German name though, so it's pronounced just as it's written :-) Thanks for sharing this with me!

@stroughtonsmith I’m a few weeks away from launching WitKit, a GPT-4 client for Mac and iOS. Fully native on all platforms, with full Shortcuts support, streaming results, iCloud sync, search, tagging, custom prompts, history tracking, and complete privacy with no accounts required.

Basically ChatGPT for pros who love quality apps.

Send me your email if you’d like in on the TestFlight.

AI power tools for  power users

@brandonhorst

I’m interested if this can use my own API key

@jeff I’m not planning to let folks use their own API key because (1) OpenAI guards features like GPT-4 at the account level, and I don’t want to deal with that complexity, (2) I’m planning to support other services beyond OpenAI (Anthropic, whatever else comes around, hopefully on-device stuff eventually), and (3) giving your API key to third parties is a bad idea that I don’t want to encourage.
@brandonhorst I hear ya, I’m not normal folk
@brandonhorst @stroughtonsmith @witkit Would also be highly interested in getting into the TestFlight! Could send you my email in a DM
@brandonhorst @stroughtonsmith How do you accomplish the “complete privacy” part without also exposing the API key to MITM attacks? Or does “complete privacy” actually mean “everything goes through my server?”
@miki That’s a good point, I need to be very precise with my language! It means that everything goes through my server, but I don’t collect any identifying information. The only “user identity” concept the app will have will be the anonymous subscription IDs that apple provide, used for rate limiting.
@brandonhorst interested in trying this out! Can I DM you my email address?
@brandonhorst @stroughtonsmith @witkit Awesome style! Does it support plugins?
@yar Do you mean ChatGPT plugins? No, I don’t know of any api for those yet
@brandonhorst Yep, exactly, looking forward when they add an API for those
