My brain is fried, so I'm watching the movie version of the #cdrama #LoveO2O as I've seen the TV series multiple times.

The same actor plays Cao Guang in both!

Zomg! One of the male lead's buddies is Li Xian, aka Han Shangyan from #GoGoSquid!
The live-action video game battles are a little too reminiscent of Power Ranger battle scenes. 🤭

OK, I wanted a movie because everything gets resolved after 2 or so hours, but this was just too condensed for me and now I want to re-watch the THIRTY hours of the #LoveO2O series because, well, I just do. There are nuances that fit into 30 hours that don't fit into 2.

What was going on in 2016 that both a movie and a TV series for the same novel were released at the same time? The movie was released in August 2016 and the series aired the next week?

Also also, the TV series was wildly popular in China but is now banned because the lead actress was guilty of tax evasion? Wild.

@jillithd I didn’t realise that about the actress or the series getting banned
@jillithd it threw me so much having the same Cao Guang! I thought the movie was okay, but it suffered from not having Yang Yang or Zheng Shuang
@rLok absolutely. This male lead is no Yang Yang. But who is?
@jillithd very true. Which is why he tends to be type cast and I don’t mind: Love O2O, King’s Avatar, You Are My Glory…
@rLok ... Who Rules The World...
@jillithd wait, MyDramaList says there’s going to be King’s Avatar S2! 😱

@rLok dang, I wish I had watched the movie BEFORE the series because he just is not as quietly charming as Yang Yang.

I mean, he is just fine. But this couple is just not the same.

@jillithd I agree - they aren’t bad, they’re just overshadowed
