S06 seems to set up that he’s okay with death, but #24Redemption and S07 both set up that the wrestles a bit with the ethics of his behavior. He believed that testifying before Congress would atone for his actions, and when he couldn’t do that, he’s at a loss for how to live with himself. The folks at the #FBI are pointing out some inconvenient truths to him even if to some extent he has been right that certain things had to be done.
They didn’t like the plotline but it seems like it kinda works. Lots of people try to turn to God when they are dying, and he’s the nearest religious dude.
