Hmmmm...seems the link to my Twitter account has been dormant since February...

This, of course means I could talk about things here that are UNRelaTED to the professional me that exists there.

So here are some facts that I haven't mentioned on Twitter.

1) I #quit my job at the end of February. I just suddenly had ENOUGH. At the moment I'm looking beyond teaching. If I stay in teaching it needs to be *right for me*...not sure I even know what this means...

2) Part of the quitting was a promise to myself to look after myself. Which teaching, or at least managing as a head of department, hadn't given me time to. Today I took a health step and started #running. Nothing major, but used the #none2run app which is more gentle than #couchto5k.

@DrRacheal

Well done!

Quitting to focus on your health is a great move in my experience.

The first time I ever quit a role, I started on a path to a new field of study. I'm still glad I did so before the terrible management of my job totally crushed me.

@DrRacheal
I wish you good health. I too just quit teaching at a university and am seriously addressing health issues, most of which are stress related.

@DrRacheal

Having made a similar exit recently, I would advise allowing plenty of time and space to decompress if you have the means.

I imagine you've earned your share of exhale time. You've made a good choice.

@DrRacheal
Congratulations on both those decisions. I've seen the damage that teaching can do to people with its open-ended workload and unrealistic expectations.
Running has so many benefits - enjoy !
@DrRacheal Wow! That is a surprise to me fpr sure. So many fun jobs and hobbies to pursue. Sad you felt so smashed you quit, but stoked you can adventure xx
