there's someone I follow on another site who periodically just gets really upset that a white man is directing killers of the flower moon and believes native people are being erased in it, and I saw someone responding to them going "they probably are being so careful with preview images because they don't want to reveal how little native representation there is in it!" and man I just dunno with these people lmao

one of the principal stars is native, who scorsese personally sent a zoom invite to in order to convince her to be in it! there are a lot of other native actors in it, including tantoo cardinal! it shot in osage county with partnership from the osage nation!

not only that, but the osage nation's input specifically changed the film to reflect native perspectives more, per the native star! like what is the problem

I don't wanna blow up a friend's spot, hence posting it here, but jesus christ I don't know how you can look at this movie and think native people are being "erased," or our traumas ignored, and I think if your prerequisite for these things is "only native writers and directors" then you are dooming us to ghettoization
idk this sounds pretty good actually!
the trailer just dropped and it is full of native people and INCREDIBLY UNSUBTLE about who has its sympathies

@leask uhhh, hate to break it to you but there aren’t any wolves in that picture, mostly just a lot of white guys in suits

And trust me, I looked close for wolves

@leask seems interesting!
@distinct jace ADORED the book and found it very respectful and sensitive to the native communities involved, and the trailer really seems to be clear about exactly what it's doing
@leask trailer looks really good!
