A lad I work with built a thing called Donation Genie—a website that displays the items that are most needed at each specific food bank across the UK.

The BBC have very kindly done a nice write-up about what it is, why it’s needed, and what it hopes to achieve. If you are in the UK, please boost this to help get the link to those who need it.

Food bank uses tech to plug donation shortfall

Soaring demand means food banks have to buy groceries - but tech is being used to target donations.

Non-UK boosters also welcome, obvs.
@philsherry I felt guilty boosting it because I cannot figure out how to donate from here. :)

@goodthinking I’m sure your boost will be seen by others who can. There’s always the TT website.

The Trussell Trust - Stop UK Hunger

The Trussell Trust is working to stop UK hunger and poverty. Our network of foodbanks provides emergency food and support to people in crisis.

@philsherry Done and done, thanks for the link!
@philsherry will a half 🇬🇧 half 🇦🇺 be okay

@jeremyburge You have plenty of UK followers!

My UK stipulation was because it’s an app for UK postcodes, so it’s mostly of benefit to UK folk. Global reach is good. Global donations to Trussell Trust are even better. Voting Conservatives out for good is the best.

@philsherry thanks! I didn't know there was a foodbank just down the road from me. I put together a quick order of stuff and I'm dropping it off on their next donation day :)
@gsuberland Nice one. I bet Paul’s beard tingles and lights up each time someone uses the app.
@philsherry this will help me... I'm just continually upset that food banks have to exist in the first place 😢
@http_error_418 Aye, hence the last hashtag on the initial post. (Bastards.)
