"Remained windbound until the afternoon when we started under sail and encamped a little above John Days River. Clear weather.
"26th. Had a sail wind all day, but lost a great deal of time at a Rapid below Point Yes, where Joe broke his boat and it nearly filled. Had to get it repaired, and both of the boats gummed, so that it was nearly noon before we were ready to start. Made a good distance before encamping. #PNWHistory #PNW #WAHistory #HistoricJourney
