I'm constantly in awe of all the things Linux and open source can do.

In my search to replace VMware ESXi, XCP-ng has been pretty amazing, if not a little hungry (since you need to run the web interface separately).

If I ultimately land here, I'd be happy.

@leochavez Just curious, what made you pick this over proxmox? I have been looking at setting up a new hypervisor myself and weighing my option’s up at the moment.

@randomlinuxuser
I haven't fully chosen it yet! Proxmox is still a consideration, but I wanted to try XCP-ng before making a decision so I wouldn't have buyers remorse.

I will say that the interface in XCP-ng is better and more digestible at a glance than Proxmox.

I'm also planning on checking out TrueNAS SCALE (it's more than a NAS apparently!), possibly Pritunl, and definitely just Debian + KVM + Cockpit.

There's still a slim chance I stay on ESXi, but I'm not counting on it.
