Today’s car, the LMX 2300 HCS Coupé, followed a similar approach to yesterday’s OSI-Ford by wrapping stylish Italian bodywork around proven #Ford mechanicals, in this case a V6 engine and front suspension from Germany and independent rear suspension from the British Ford Zodiac Mk IV. Constructed around a backbone chassis clothed in GRP panels. Only about fifty were built between 1969 and 1973. Pic: #TechnoClassica 2023. One more true #Taunus tomorrow. #WeirdCarMastodon #davidsdailycar #LMX
@davidwilkins it's certainly pretty, and very of its era. For me it something of a kitcar vibe about it. Might be the GRP bodywork was very much a kitcar thing.
For my money, if I had any, I would have yesterdays OSI over this. Also now sure how convinced I am about the rear suspension off a Zodiac for a sports car! Not that I have driven a Zodiac just an impression.
@DazzlingDamo Yes - the OSI is well known but I hadn’t actually heard of the LMX until I saw it at TC this year. On paper, the Zodiac’s rear suspension was more advanced than the simple live axle and leaf springs used by the big Taunuses, but the actual results/implementation were one of the main points criticism of the British car.
