@jgordon John, I have gleaned you may have an adult son with some disabilities.
Somehow I recently came across this delightful YouTube channel of a family who mostly videos taking their ~30-year-old autistic (&maybe more) son out for lunch.
I don't mean mimic it, but maybe enjoy solidarity. 🙂

@jgordon They have so many videos, it's amazing. And quite charming. It's mostly the mom and the son but there's a larger family too.
They are in Iowa but a couple months ago took a train from Chicago to LA for DisneyLand.
I wondered if maybe the guy prefers it. I kind of like looking out a train window.
But he's been to Florida DisneyWorld also and he said next time he'd prefer to fly! Hah. So ya never know.
