Thirteen years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.

Today, sold-out politicians block progress on all fronts to appease their corporate donors.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

@rbreich We are doomed. Too many serious problems. Too little time. 5 Supreme Court Justices. Need removing. And prosecuted. Congressional traitors, not removed. Corporate seditionists donors, still doing business! Trump appointed Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell blowing up the economy. Biden doing nothing. Conspiracy? Or stupid? 🚫🤡
@humansriseup @rbreich I think #citizensUnited can theoretically be countered through mass boycotts. If large numbers of ppl boycotted the most evil corps & made an ongoing lifestyle out of it (as I do), corps would be forced to act in the public interest. The problem is, the /consumers/ are spineless pushovers. Search #RAGA for my most recent boycott list. /cc @davevolek
@koherecoWatchdog @rbreich @davevolek What about Defense Contractors? Oil Companies? Two huge welfare recipients. Parasites on all of us.
@humansriseup @davevolek @rbreich Boycotting only works in the case of gov services from a supplier angle. That is, we obviously can’t decide to stop buying something we wouldn’t buy anyway, but we can refuse to work for a defense contractor. Boycotts couldn’t be too effective in that case. Though note that Honeywell is a defense contractor & maker of thermostats, so you can boycott the thermostats.
@rbreich @davevolek @humansriseup Regarding oil companies, you can certainly stop buying fuel & boycott all of them. Or you can pick the lesser of evils and only buy oil from that company. The worst is #Chevron & #ExxonMobil. #Totaal is partnered w/Google so you can boycott them together. #Microsoft is partnered with Chevron so boycott them together. IIRC, #Amazon is partnered with BP.
@koherecoWatchdog @rbreich @humansriseup
I buy nearly all of fuel from my Co-op. We need more co-ops, even in the "bad" industries. And yes, we should also drive less.
@davevolek @humansriseup @rbreich Don’t the coops have an upstream supplier?
@koherecoWatchdog @humansriseup @rbreich
The co-op refinery is in Regina Saskatchewan. I believe they buy most of their oil from independent producers in south Saskatchewan. Many small companies in Canada.
@davevolek @rbreich @humansriseup Sounds like a good way to avoid feeding the worst oil companies then.
My History with Co-operatives - Tiered Democratic Governance - Medium

My first exposure to co-operatives was the Alberta Wheat Pool. For 10 years, my farmer father was the local Pool delegate. Once a year, he went to a week-long convention in Calgary to cast his vote…

Tiered Democratic Governance
@koherecoWatchdog @rbreich @humansriseup
Many of the independent oil producers are likely climate deniers, but their outlook is less than 10 years. They are not very proactive in denying.
