It's #CupOfTeaSocial #QuizQuestion time! How about another Neil Gaiman question? Neil has written a lot of stuff over the years for many different media. His most recent bit of screenwriting was for The Sandman on Netflix. According to Wikipedia his first foray into screenwriting back in 1996 was a BBC series about "London Below" which was later adapted into a novel. What was it called?

A little footnote to this: you can find Neil on the Fediverse @neilhimself where you'll see that he is supporting the #WGAStrike, and so should you - I don't know about you but I spend a fair amount of time sat on my arse watching telly and believe that those who create it should be properly compensated for their efforts.

As over 1000 of you knew, the TV show/novel in question is Neverwhere. The TV show came first and was co-created with the excellent Lenny Henry, with the novel expanding the story beyond the boundaries of the 1990s BBC 2 budgetary constraints. "Knowhere" is a location in Marvel comics & cinema, "Erewhon" is a novel by Samuel Butler and "Elsewhere" is a title used for all sorts of works including a novel by William Peter Blatty.

Thanks to everyone who took part! I write a trivia question pretty much every day so if that's your kind of thing then follow either me or the hashtag #QuizQuestion for more. Today's effort is inevitably #StarWarsDay themed and you can find it here: https://cupoftea.social/@puzzletrailpaul/110311408106004179

It's #CupOfTeaSocial #QuizQuestion time and today's question celebrates #StarWarsDay. Ewan McGregor portrayed the character Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequels and the recent Disney+ series. His uncle appears in the original trilogy – which character did he play? #quiz #trivia #MayThe4thBeWithYou [ ] Boba Fett [ ] Wedge Antilles [ ] Owen Lars [ ] Greedo

@puzzletrailpaul You put the Question out just as I got out of Guardians of The Galaxy 3 from Knowhere
@puzzletrailpaul Wow over 1000 responses! That’s great. Although the reblog from Mr. Gaiman probably helped a bit. 👍😁
@puzzletrailpaul @neilhimself I have a friend who keeps trying to get me to read the novel this was based on.
@FrostPoem I really like the book and the TV series, though all told the book is probably better as it doesn't suffer from the budgetary constraints of a 90s BBC show.
@puzzletrailpaul @neilhimself woah was that really the origin of that novel (I don't want to spoil the answer)
@Gigawatt121 yes, co-created with the great Lenny Henry.

Great tv, remember watching it when it came out. Didn't realise the book came from it and not the other way round. Thank you for that titbit.

That show was my introduction to Mr Gaiman's work (though I didn't know it until years later; I just thought it was an interesting BBC series).

@maisiesummers me too! I read the Sandman graphic novels shortly after as I noticed they were by the same person and was hooked after that.
@puzzletrailpaul
One of my favorite books. Didn’t know about "London Below”. Going to see if there is a way to watch it.

Neverwhere & Door in particular, is my absolute favorite. Literally mind blowing.
Just can't put into words (prose) the way @neilhimself has an uncanny knack for, tight & symbolic, stitching a story together. Poetic.
Thank you for you, Neil.
@puzzletrailpaul @neilhimself I read it recently and later dug out the show. Actually it holds up very well for something made in biblical times.
@gorhendad_oldbuck did you find it on DVD? I think I probably have a VHS copy recorded off the TV somewhere but no way to play it any more.
@puzzletrailpaul I think I'd rather not say exactly how I got hold of it 😉
@puzzletrailpaul @gorhendad_oldbuck DVD is available for relatively cheap, I bought a copy recently

@puzzletrailpaul @neilhimself oh, oh, I know the answer to this one!
I'm currently rereading it, so it was a bit easy.
@DaveKidneys that would make it easier 😂

Good series, though the BBC radio version I felt was better in capturing the book.

@keithcowans Oh, I didn't know there was a radio version! Seems like there are almost as many versions as there are of Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

@puzzletrailpaul

BBC radio drama about ten years ago I think, I got it from Audible.
