I shared a story on a certain other website and someone replied "I mean this respectfully, this is awesome, I'm being sincere right now, no offense intended" and I think that's a perfect example of how freaking toxic it is over there that someone had to worry that telling me I'm awesome would be taken as rude or disrespectful or offensive

(Yes, yes, I could just de-activate but my publisher wants its authors over there to promote books!)
