Great news: @pageslowstreet’s full median traffic is (finally) about to be installed!

Good news: Right-turn calming going in at Divisadero and Masonic.

Bad news: Fast cut-through traffic from Divisadero and Masonic will still be allowed to turn onto Page.

Need more diverters.

“Page Slow Street needs your help! Next week, the SFMTA Board will vote on a proposal that would make Page an official Slow Street and add a full median traffic diverter at Divisadero. Please send an email in two taps and 5 seconds ➡️https://t.co/wdMfINaart Please share/retweet!”

Thanks to @43masonic for the heads-up, @deanpreston / Preston Kilgore for their support and leadership in getting this approved, and @twinpeaks_sf and @caseyhildreth for their work on the design and bureaucratic process!

Getting diverters on Slow Streets shouldn’t be this difficult 😣

Related: The partial traffic diverter at Page and Masonic has been incomplete for at least 5.5 months (@GoldenDenizen submitted a related SF311 request on 12/15/22).

This (paint-and-post only) diverter is critical infrastructure, but has been neglected for months. @sfmta_muni 👀

To my “finally” comment in the first tweet of this thread, this diverter was presented for Traffic Engineering approval in *August 2022* after months of advocacy.

…and this is all for a median diverter made entirely of paint and plastic.

This is unacceptably slow/bureaucratic!

“The median diverter on Page at Divisadero will be proposed on August 19th. This diverter will increase safety on @PageSlowStreet, help our city take #ClimateAction, and move us closer to #VisionZero ❤️ Submit public comment now (two taps and 10 seconds!): https://t.co/UA0n6KkU7V”

.@pageslowstreet’s median diverter at Divisadero is being installed this morning!

This diverter will decrease cut-through traffic on Page and encourage more people to walk, bike, and use mobility devices to get around.

We need diverters on all Slow Streets and we need them now.

@LukeBornheimer @43masonic @twinpeaks_sf @caseyhildreth thanks for your advocacy on this, Luke. 100% agree it shouldn’t be this difficult. We will continue pushing for improvements to #PageSlowStreet to make it safe for pedestrians, cyclists, neighbors. That means diverters, signage, art on the street, physical infrastructure, etc. This is an amazing slow street and we will continue the work to make it better.
Thank you for your continued, unwavering leadership and advocacy for Page Slow Street (and Slow Streets more broadly), Supervisor!
