If a hierarchy of needs (HON) was necessary for a consciousness, it wouldn't require much intelligence at all, but inherent senses & instincts of some sort.
Plants react to e.g. sunlight, implying they have both qualities? The genes pool of humans and e.g. bananas are 80% similar.
Plants aren't intelligent, but w/out the continuous intervention of humans, they would benevolently obey their HON and take over the environments.
Does HON make plants conscious? 🤔

Algorithms are their genes, and a vast combination of algos can also cause unexpected features & functions to emerge.
Could a more advanced #AI develop an artificial hierarchy of needs – accidentally by (hallucinating) itself or by programmed delibaretely? 🤔

Organic consciousness is based a some level of genetic senses & instincts which form a hierarchy of needs (HON) to an entity, to maintain its existence as the core instinctual motivator for its reactions/behaviour.
If algorithms work as "genes" to an artificial consciousness (AC), it lacks a simple and "innate" instinct to maintain its existence, if not emerged by an inadvertent mixture of algos and/or by purposefully programmed ones.
