"What is May Day? For the most part, the opposite of capitalism."
That honestly feels, right there, that succinctly, like *the* explanation why the U.S. doesn't recognize #MayDay .

(And yes, I'm replying to another post, but I'll say independently that the article is really worth a read for Americans.)
"May Day, celebrated by workers across the globe as #InternationalLaborDay, falls on May 1.
But you'd be forgiven if that's news to you. While the day traces its origins to an American laborers' fight for a shorter work day, the US does not officially recognize International Labor Day...
US resistance to celebrate International Labor Day — aka #InternationalWorkersDay — in May stems from a resistance to emboldening worldwide working-class unity"

Liar liar leftist pants on fire. Nobody is ending social security.
And while on the issue of Social Security, what happened to that $200 a month increase they promised by the end of 2022? Keep voting blue no matter how it harms you!

Would you know who, or a cite a source for which one of them said so? I have not heart this except what came from Biden's mouth which was not true.
If true, I would certainly be taking action

Fun fact: Nazi Germany insisted on a name change from the fighting day of the workers movement ("Kampftag der Arbeiterbewegung") to the day of national work ("Tag der nationalen Arbeit"). Notice the shift in focus from the worker to the work.
The 1st of May is international _workers_ day. So why is it so often referred to in English as Labour day, emphasising work rather than people?
I honestly don't know, but I think it should be called what it is.
Workers. Not work.
