@kathimmel The more people come here and talk about it, the more the MastodonFC will be good for the Scottish premiership. #Aberdeenfc fan here, though it's been years since I left.

@lmgenealogy @kathimmel

#Aberdeenfc here, too. A Pittodrie and away games travel die hard for ages - more of a comfy sofa fan in recent times (but still die hard!). 😂

@triciab @kathimmel Nothing wrong with the comfy sofa - Pittodrie should have 'branches', just like banks. :-)
@lmgenealogy @kathimmel So news today from the granite city, Lynn, that caretaker manager Barry Robson is now permanent manager, after 7 straight wins, incl last week v Rangers. He and his assistant, Steve Agnew, have agreed 2-year contract extensions. So will manage the team till at least the end of the 2024/25 season.
Good news - and you'll now need to seek out your red and white scarf and invest in a good vpn to join #thedons comfy-sofa-branch following #Aberdeen next season! 😂 #mastodonfc
@triciab @kathimmel I know exactly where my scarf is! I used to be able to watch through the website - not sure if that still works. But I've also got a VPN. What kind of pies will there be? :-)
@triciab @kathimmel Didn't I hear whispers a few years back about replacing Pittodrie? What happened with that?
@lmgenealogy @kathimmel Very timely question, as you'll see...
1/3 Yes, the first plan was to relocate to a site called Kingsford, somewhere near Westhill. Mixed views from fans, as you can imagine, w Pittodrie and the beach location such a kind of deep set part of the Aberdeen spirit, football fan or not.
But then a Council plan for the beach came up that included a new Pittodrie, closer to current home - think that was just a couple of years ago, can't quite remember fully.
However... 2/3
@lmgenealogy @kathimmel .../ 2/3 However, in the last few days Aberdeen Council published a revised plan for the wider beach area re-do, reported as casting doubt on new beach Pittodrie as it now talks only about a "potential new stadium". I think this is more about funding than practical/planning/traffic reduction issues, espec with the hit from covid & economic times for club and council. Seems like the council is saying a stadium there still fine, but up to the club to fully fund it.
@lmgenealogy @kathimmel Kat - so sorry if you can't be bothered with Aberdeenfc talk when it's not Celtic or wider footie related! Celtic definitely my premiership Glasgow team, though! 😀 3/3
@triciab @kathimmel Thanks for the recap. I don't keep up as well as I used to with goings on in the Granite City.
