We have an amazing #dairy sector in Scotland but we have lost crucial infrastructure; generic food labelling doesn't let us #SupportLocalScotland; and supermarkets are the only winners when it comes to prices.

The UK Government and DEFRA are deaf to the cries for positive change.

Due to the effects of the mono-agricultural animal farming methods (e.g., landscapes to feed sheep or cows) on climate and soil degradation, mono-agricultural systems will fail (they're not future proof).

That failure will make people think about better ways of farming (eventually)

@empiricism there is some very encouraging work being done but, without a shift towards community supported agriculture, many farmers won't have the resilience needed to make the transition to regenerative practice. Bioregioning Tayside is working with agroecologists @jameshuttoninst to find ways to embed local produce in local food systems with sustainability as a key focus.

Food is of course at the "heart" of our society - so good to hear people are considering sustainable options.

I was actually taken by surprise during my last trip to Scotland. A local farmer I spoke with was very knowledgeable and passionate about sustaining biodiversity on his land.

I was surprised because I'd had quite a few different types of experiences with the local farmers in the Lake District National Park (England).
