In a shockingly annoying twist of fate, I turned up #COVID positive today (RT-LAMP test) after getting light symptoms last night. Based on the timing, my guess would be during the #PyConSprints at #PyConUS. If you were in 250F on Monday, 250C on Tuesday, or 250D on Wednesday definitely make sure to check your tests.

@kevinbrownsilva @PyConUS @gvwilson I’m really sorry to hear that. Median incubation period on current variants is 2.5 days though, which would suggest most likely exposure after the conference? Nevertheless I’m gonna grab a test right now…

The timing for the Mastodon posts are funky (and it started getting re-boosted a ton today) but I became symptomatic on Thursday night after being at the conference on Wednesday (and the days before). So even with the incubation median it was very likely during the PyCon time. I'm starting to think it happened at breakfast at the hotel rather than at the conference because I haven't heard of much other spread.

It was good for you to check nonetheless, because yesterday/today are when a lot of the not-so-great antigen tests would have, in theory, started to pick it up. Hoping everyone remains negative though and this is a one-off case.

@kevinbrownsilva I'm sorry it didn't work out for you personally but I think the lack of any spread from this is really to the credit of the conference's seriousness about health & safety. Hoping that continues; as you say, we're now entering the period where worse tests will start to pick up and people's symptoms would be getting bad enough to need testing even if they're not particularly careful.
