Did you have a computer with a #Z80 processor?
Mine was a #MSX Philips VG-8020.
I'd love to know what yours was.
I love seeing so many people on Mastodon who had a computer with a #Z80.
Did you have one too, @rc2014 ?
@agonzalez I didn't have one... I had a few!
48k Sinclair Spectrum was my first though, but I've had (and still have) many Sinclair machines, as well as Jupiter Ace, Cambridge Z88, Amstrad PCW9512, MicroProfessor and probably a few more :)
@agonzalez My very first computer: Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
@agonzalez
ZX 80 first then ZX Spectrum 48K ( which I still have ).
@agonzalez
Forgot to say "PLUS THIS" that I made at home ( and still working on it ) πŸ™‚
@gilesgoat @agonzalez Is that STEbus?
@lopta @agonzalez
If you mean my Z80 thing ? No it's just "a bus I invented" more or less "as the signals were coming out". It has some "extra stuff" as that among things that CPLD does a bit of "Memory mapping" adding 5 more extra AD lines plus has a concept on "On board mem/IO" and "Off board mem/IO" to allow me to address extra memory/IO well over the 64K limit. In fact there are 256K or ram in that board and I can map it in segments.
@gilesgoat @agonzalez Nice! Does it run CP/M Plus?
@lopta @agonzalez
For the moment runs CP/M 2.2 with a little different CCP
@agonzalez ZX Spectrum then an Amstrad CPC. I coded on both in assembly too - and still love the Z80 πŸ™‚
@agonzalez muy first computer was a #MSX Sony HB-75P, these days I still have a Panasonic FS-A1WSX which had a 220V PSU swap and a 256 KiB RAM upgrade done when it was brought in the 90s to Spain by a professional importer.
@agonzalez
TRS-80 at school, ZX80, ZX81, but then I switched to 6502 with the BBC Micro. I did eventually end up with a Z80 second processor for it though.

@agonzalez this is my current project. A Cifer 1887 which has four (count 'em) Z80A processors. One for the Processor board, one for the Disc Controller, one for the Graphics board and one for the SASI interface. Oh, and there's a Motorola 68000 add-on board too. Is that enough? πŸ€”πŸ˜

Runs CP/M and can (in theory) run Unix System III.

@agonzalez A pair of ZX Spectrums and a Cambridge Z88 are my only Z80 machines.
@48kRAM @agonzalez Ooh, I still think the Z88 was a great form factor. Innovative storage, too.

@agonzalez I had 2 MSX: a Canon V-20 and a Spectravideo 738. The Sony F1XD is a recent acquisition.

Also, I have a Sanyo MSX2+, my favorite one, bought when I was in high school.

#MSX #MSX2 #MSX2+ #Z80

@agonzalez Good old Spectrum. Learned machine code on it and used to hand assemble my routines. Took an age but they worked. Stood me in good stead for my career in electronics as I used Z8's extensively.
@agonzalez Originally I had a locally made ZX Spectrum clone, upgraded over the years, but a few years ago a friend gifted me ZX Spectrum +2A.
@agonzalez a VTech PreComputer 1000 :)
@agonzalez The first computer I owned (though not the first I programmed) was a Sinclair ZX-81. One of my favourite Z80 machines was the Amstrad PCW-8512.
@agonzalez A Coleco Adam for about five minutes before it was returned and a C64 acquired. But some years later, we got a C128 which had a Z80 onboard for a special CP/M boot mode when paired with the right hardware.
@agonzalez
My +2A was still working when I loaded my puzzle game BlockZ written during lockdown in #Z80 assembler.

@agonzalez First a Luxor ABC80, then a Spectravideo 328, and finally a Goldstar MSX. Fun things.
@agonzalez Another ZX Spectrum+ here. It’s still boxed in the attic with various games. Still works fine including the keyboard membrane. Have since added a rubber key speccy, Harlequin 128k build, minstrel 2 build plus some other boards to build.
@agonzalez
A Timex Sinclair 1000 and Sony Series 35 Model 10 word processor (which contains TWO Z80s)!
@agonzalez TRS-80 Model I & Model III in highschool and an Exidy Sorcerer for a year in college.
@agonzalez My dad had an Amstrad PCW8256. Later I had several RM380Zs, a Cifer 2684, a Cifer 1887, a ZX Spectrum, a Spectrum +2, a couple of PCW8256s, a Cambridge Z88, an Amstrad NC100 & NC200, and various homemade computers. I think that's about it, but I may have missed some.
@agonzalez IMSAI I upgraded with a Godbout ZPU processor board. And I still have it!
@agonzalez Nascom1, Camputers Lynx (3 actually) a spectrum and a zx81

@agonzalez While I started with a ZX Spectrum in 1983 as a kid, my main #Z80 computer is the SAM CoupΓ© - I bought my first in 1993 and immediately started programming on it.

Thirty years on, I still develop for the SAM Coupe having released a wealth of hardware, software and magazines over the years.

My site, to show everything I do and have available -> https://www.samcoupe.com

A couple photos of my SAM Coupe setup at various computer shows last year...

@agonzalez Commodore 128. 3 computers in one πŸ˜€ (Well 4 if you coun't Ultimax mode..)
@agonzalez ZX Spectrum 48k at school, Commodore 128 at home
@agonzalez ZX81, Spectrum, CPC-464, TRS-80 but my best was definitely the PCW-8512.
