Just because it's such a fabulous example of storytelling through song. The video is a treat too, it's a short film really - fun spotting several people who perhaps weren't quite as famous then as they became later. Just found out the one I used to think might be Midge Ure was actually someone else.
@v_for_verbosity I love this track. Well, to be fair, I love Kate — but this is a stand out.
I love the way she writes songs that are little stories unto themselves. What is more, not all of them have a clear ending, narrator, motive, etc., so a part is always left to your imagination.
Every time I hear this one, I always find it slightly unsettling. Not just horrific, which it is meant to be, but … it never resolves. Is that sound still playing somewhere? No one is able to say.
