In 1987 Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr. of @LibertyU introduced a successful American insurance businessman, Arthur L. “Art” Williams Jr., on stage at the @NRBConvention to present his philosophy on winning in business. Art's speech was simply entitled “Do It.”

ART WILLIAMS JUST DO IT SPEECH

YouTube

Art's primary point for his “Do It” speech.

Q. What matters most to winning in business?

A. What’s inside a person; “It’s your integrity. It’s your people abilities. It’s your character.”

The rest of his points are essentially about integrity, people abilities, & character.

Art's “Do It” points:

1 Get & stay excited
2 Become a dreamer again
3 Feel good about yourself; want it bad enough
4 Stand for something
5 Be controversial
6 Be totally committed
7 Treat people good
8 Have the right priorities
9 Win; don't quit
10 Don't just figure it out; do it

Some claim in 1988 American advertising executive Dan Wieden created Nike's “Just Do It” slogan because of Art's 1987 “Do It” speech. Proof? Dan has publicly talked about his inspiration; appears unrelated. Just because it could be, doesn't mean it is.
