The word is Highway
#TheDoors: “Dawn’s Highway/New Born Awakening” from "An American Prayer"

In 1978 the surviving members of the Doors released An American Prayer, putting #JimMorrison's spoken recordings of his poetry to newly recorded backing tracks, splicing in portions of some well known Doors songs.

The spoken “Dawn’s Highway” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbkYLRJXqFU recounting an event from Morrison’s childhood, segues into “New Born Awakening” which begins with a portion of "Peace Frog" from 1970's "Morrison Hotel," with its references to violence and to Morrison's arrest, and this couplet referring back to the childhood incident:

“Indians scattered on dawn’s highway bleeding/Ghosts crowd the young child’s fragile eggshell mind.”

The track then lifts and takes flight, as spirit released from such earthy realities, with Morrison's poetry on the wings of #RobbieKrieger's elegiac guitar.

Could I just have used the original track, #TheDoors' Peace Frog? Sure, but "An American Prayer" is such an odd, under appreciated gem of an album. (2/2)
