What confused me completely was the term »#villa« to mean #palazzo.
Villa almost always means *country* house. Only modern villas ar *sub*urban. Bot even those ar not really urban.
But the duke has a villa in the walld town. What?

Oh, but it’s not really walld.
The guy has a room in an inn that for some unexplained reason is *outside* the city walls. The room is on the first floor, one up from the ground floor.
And from that altitude he can see over the wall, and he sees what is happening on the city square.
What? How? That makes no sense geometrically.
