Building out the national #grid:

"More long-distance power lines also allows for the broader use of #renewables even when the sun isn't shining or the wind isn't blowing in a particular location and helps a renewable-heavy grid withstand the vagaries of weather patterns."

Groundbreaking for #TransWestExpress #transmission line in #Wyoming

"Some people are saying ‘Yes,’ like Rawlins mayor Terry Weickum.

He said the town has been in a “bust” recently as thousands of jobs were lost from the local #coalmines closing and the #oilfields slowing.

“It is a lucky break for us to get this incredible thing in our mix,” he said. “Some people don't like it. Some people don't like ice cream. I don't know what to tell you.”"

As the demand for coal wanes, Carbon County sets its sights on a renewable energy project

Just southeast of Rawlins on the Overland Trail Ranch, federal and local officials broke ground with shovels on the TransWest Express Transmission Project. It will be a 732-mile powerline that will transfer Wyoming’s wind-generated electricity to the southwest. This is just one way the Biden Administration hopes to achieve 100 percent ‘clean’ energy by 2035.

One can take a leaf from the pipeline builders' book and invoke eminent domain, for a good cause of a change.

Most of the proposed power line goes over public lands, so that makes things a little simpler, except of course you have to be respectful of sites that are important to indigenous peoples.
