#Aspen 03 (1977) - 10/10
Dark ending to excellent mini-series from #RoyHuggins Productions.

1️⃣ The overall storyline is adapted from 2 unrelated novels, one by #BurtHirschfeld, one by #BartSpicer. That becomes very apparent here in the first hour when the #TonyFranciosa plot (Hirschfeld book) becomes dominant.

2️⃣ Franciosa’s charming-but-unscrupulous businessman goes to extreme/illegal lengths to acquire land from #JohnMcIntire. He needs the land for a million-dollar development deal, but he

didn’t reckon on the skilful manipulations of the old man’s lawyer son #SamElliott.

3️⃣ The second hour returns to the #PerryKing plot (Spicer book). This is some of the most exciting courtroom drama I’ve ever seen. Particularly gut-wrenching in the final half-hour when it becomes clear that it is not going to end the way we expect/want.

4️⃣ Elliot is magnificent. It’s a pity we didn’t get to see more of the Tom Keating character, in another mini-series or a weekly series following his adventures.
