Hey #anarchist mastodon. I have a new HR person at work, and was discussing anarchist principles with her, and she was interested in hearing more, and asked me to send some reading reading/listening materials. (She knew about and was skeptical of #holocracy

Anyone know of any good introductory-level materials, maybe focused on things that could be relevant to organisational structure/design? Org is smallish - ~50 people, but growing fast

#anarchism #anarchy #organising

I probably should have been more precise in my request. Looking for stuff that will convince someone that flat org structures can be better than hierarchical ones.
@naught101 An example that comes to my mind is Valve software. I've heard them talking about (GabeN interview) how in absence of a formal hierarchy, an informal leader emerges. I'd love to see examples of a flat organisation structure that gives good results, bit nothing comes to my mind. Some structure has to emerge, and a tree seems to be something that has independently evolved in indigenous cultures worldwide. But maybe it's not the best model for a certain organisations? Ancient Greece?
@unfa Mondragon is the usual example. Not perfect, but pretty good. I think Visa also operates as some kind of federation, but I can't remember the details.
@naught101 Anark on YouTube is a great resource and well-spoken.
@the9thdude do you have a particular video in mind? Sending someone a whole YouTube channel isn't going to be very convincing
@naught101 Hrm, to start, I think I'd go with his series "The State is Counter-Revolutionary" https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvwoHdNGq9wVy-iR1oHJKoJY2lh6ypXKZ
The State is Counter-Revolutionary

YouTube
@the9thdude thanks. I think that's a bit of a broader focus than I was going for (don't want to turn her off with the old "too political" reaction), but I'll check it out for myself :)
