What’s your favorite Ultima game?

@benjedwards

I played all of them. U4 was the best, but it's been a long while.

@benjedwards Does Underworld II count?
@benjedwards Underworld
@sfoskett I knew what your reply would be before I even hit the link to see what you’d said. 8)
@benjedwards Ultima ]I[: Exodus just has the best memories for me, playing the C64 version with friends when we should have been studying for the SAT that next weekend. Sharing our map notes, just great times.
@danjmcs @benjedwards Seconded. Ultima 3 was my first and still my favorite.
@benjedwards thd only one I’ve ever played was Ultima II
@benjedwards If you don't count the Underworlds, Ultima IV.
@benjedwards I'd have to go with IV. It had a good NES port, with a huge manual.

@benjedwards Mine is #Ultima6, #Ultima5, #Ultima4, #Ultima7 (both parts), and #Ultima1.

#UltimaVI because I like stories involving other races and worlds. And in Ultima, a new set of principles and virtues as well.

#UltimaV because of Lord Blackthorn. He was misunderstood. He meant well, just happened to associate with the wrong powers. LOL, I always wore Blackthorn's amulet insstead of the Resistance. (Because Resistance is Futile!)

#UltimaIV. I love a good challenge. How to achieve all 8 virtues. This is the kind of #RPG that is lacking in popular “RPG” games today, offline or MMO.

#UltimaVII. Because of the The Fellowship. I actually like their ideals, it makes sense. Like Lord British (at least in the game), it's supplemental to the Axiom of Infinity, not a replacement. Then Part 2, adventure in yet another world with its own set of virtues!

#UltimaI. The one and only chance to visit all four continents on the planet #Sosaria freely. Even Shamino had his own kingdom. If Sosaria was not torn asunder, there would have been more amazing stories to tell. Maybe they have their own #Avatar or something. Or, they developed technology from those advance ships that crash landed on Sosaria.

^_^

@benjedwards Underworld blew my mind back in the day.
@benjedwards While Ultima IV is a close second, Ultima III was my favorite. I've replayed it several times over the years. I played the Atari versions and IV did not have the background music. The music added so much to III.
@benjedwards A conspicuous absence of 8s and 9s in the replies to this one.

@benjedwards Underworld! Still feels unique today.

7 from “proper” Ultimas.

@benjedwards How many people chose 9? It was cool to find out that the Avatar was actually Tim Allen.

@benjedwards my brother is a die-hard Ultima fan, and he likes 7 and 4 best. He especially likes the Sega Master System port of the latter.

I think I've spent the most time in the Macintosh remaster of 3. I liked the Quality of Life improvements, and all the different tilesets. I mostly used the classic Mac ones. :P

My dad first got into the franchise via the NES ports.

@benjedwards Ultima 5. Aged terribly, thought, hard to recommend to anyone who didn't play it at the time.
@benjedwards I really enjoyed the first Ultima (and Akalabeth, fwiw), but Ultima 2 was the best IMO.
