I think for the same reasons Germany is not able talk about "wokeness" correctly. It's a slur here now. 😔
Here media makes fun of it and does not discuss about stuff like this.
It is often just white people call out other white people for making racist jokes...
And some say it's okay and the others don't do this.

@ViolaB, fyi, Phoenix is fighting for indigenous rights from Canada and does a lot of things in this area.
My english is not perfect.
But I am very interesseted and also kind of ashamed because part of my Family lives in Canada.
I was three Times in Toronto spending Holidays there.
I visited manoutlin island and I am still shocked by how Canada dealing with this, also people here in Germany...
They often love Canada but they definitly don't talk about this.
Yes I agree and is also a problem I think we in Europe have to Take Care of.
Some people beginn to see the problems, so they start do dislike the british royals as an example.
Some people try to make things better and educate the society about that stuff what really happens. But we also have huge problems with teaching "normal" or the average people society about what racism is...

This is a harsh judgement. While not true for many really poor countries with good internet access, I can very much agree with your viewpoint for all former European colonial powers.
We (still before LLMs will kill it) have "information at your fingertips" and everyone in the aforementioned countries did have the chance for at least a basic secondary education to understand it.

What I do have to say, though, with all the whitewashing going on, it is becoming harder and harder to get to the facts.
For instance, I find it incredible that after the 1940s it took a reporter and anchorwoman of the category of Rachel Maddow to uncover that a worse than January 6 event (violence was prevented b/c private citizens prevented a desaster) happened in the US to overthrow the government and even among historians, they did not know about it. Back then,...

And that was a well-documented period with literacy.
What happened from 1492 until the advent of the printing press in the Colonies is much less well accessible. And the language of this time was different, too.
This is no excuse, of course, and while some might fail ,the majority should be able to do it.
