Hi there,

a new contact of mine @ViolaB brought this well-done infomercial on #YouTube about the plights of #IndigenousAmericans and how to communicate them in an innovative way through clothing to my attention.

IMO that could work for #FirstNations (and #NativeAmericans) as well:

@HistoPol @ViolaB I'll check it out over the weekend. We have a big lack of political will which is the main block against righting injustices - in US, Canada, Australia & several other places fighting for Indigenous rights & justice.

@msquebanh @HistoPol

That's just. πŸ’©

I think for the same reasons Germany is not able talk about "wokeness" correctly. It's a slur here now. πŸ˜”

Here media makes fun of it and does not discuss about stuff like this.

It is often just white people call out other white people for making racist jokes...

And some say it's okay and the others don't do this.

And than the whole discussion ends.

πŸ™„

It's horrible.

@ViolaB, fyi, Phoenix is fighting for indigenous rights from Canada and does a lot of things in this area.

@HistoPol @msquebanh

My english is not perfect.
But I am very interesseted and also kind of ashamed because part of my Family lives in Canada.

I was three Times in Toronto spending Holidays there.

I visited manoutlin island and I am still shocked by how Canada dealing with this, also people here in Germany...

They often love Canada but they definitly don't talk about this.

@ViolaB @HistoPol Canada never stopped committing Indigenous genocide to this day. I post a lot of content about this & why people need to pay attention to human rights violations by #KKKanada

@msquebanh @HistoPol

Yes I agree and is also a problem I think we in Europe have to Take Care of.

Some people beginn to see the problems, so they start do dislike the british royals as an example.

@msquebanh @HistoPol

Some people try to make things better and educate the society about that stuff what really happens. But we also have huge problems with teaching "normal" or the average people society about what racism is...

@ViolaB @HistoPol Normal is overrated & racism is rampant. We live in the age of freely accessible education. People who stay bigots or racist or misogynist in this age - are choosing that. It's our job to call it out & do whatever we can, wherever we live - to ensure these hateful folks don't ever feel comfy around us.

@msquebanh @HistoPol I know, a lot of people just using for power and money.

It's sad.

@ViolaB @HistoPol Greed is a wicked soul eating disease.

@msquebanh

That is so true. - In early Christianity until the Fall of the Roman Empire a couple of hundred years later, Avarice was considered the most deadly sin.

While not a churchgoer, looking at the behavior of today's rich, the corporations, and the politicians, regardless of faith, they did have a point:

@ViolaB

@msquebanh @ViolaB

This is a harsh judgement. While not true for many really poor countries with good internet access, I can very much agree with your viewpoint for all former European colonial powers.

We (still before LLMs will kill it) have "information at your fingertips" and everyone in the aforementioned countries did have the chance for at least a basic secondary education to understand it.

This casts a grim picture of humanity.

@HistoPol @ViolaB It is due to ecocide killing my overseas families ecosystems & they're Indigenous villagers.

@msquebanh @HistoPol
Yes.

We also learned Bull Sh*t, or didn't talk about it and they made of some Fantasy History out of it.

@ViolaB @HistoPol False narratives fill most textbooks in most colonized countries. US just went further with trying to erase anything but colonizer history. It's beyond fucked up.

@msquebanh
What I do have to say, though, with all the whitewashing going on, it is becoming harder and harder to get to the facts.

For instance, I find it incredible that after the 1940s it took a reporter and anchorwoman of the category of Rachel Maddow to uncover that a worse than January 6 event (violence was prevented b/c private citizens prevented a desaster) happened in the US to overthrow the government and even among historians, they did not know about it. Back then,...

@ViolaB

@msquebanh
...it was daily news in print and even on the radio for a couple of years.

And that was a well-documented period with literacy.

What happened from 1492 until the advent of the printing press in the Colonies is much less well accessible. And the language of this time was different, too.

This is no excuse, of course, and while some might fail ,the majority should be able to do it.

@ViolaB

@ViolaB @HistoPol This #KKKanada government is shit. Same as our #BCgovernment who sends #RCMP #CIRG #CorporateMercenaries to #ResistanceCamps to assault/arrest us on unceded lands. While claiming to respect #IndigenousRights - I've been trying to fight alongside #NativeLandDefenders for over 30 yrs here. We've been in & out of courts for decades.

@msquebanh @HistoPol

I am deeply sorry, it looks like the situation is getting worse. :/

I think germany sucks as well could be worse.

But we have also the situation that the number and population of right wing idiots and assh*les is increasing and a lot of people like that, this kind of global problem?, or a least a european problem...

Some just want to talk about some don't want to see the connection between all of this and some are just not educated enough, or stupid.

But there are
