The first of the season 😍

I love rhubarb - easy to grow and prolific.

@thechattygardener The plant that just keeps giving 😀 Ours are in big concrete pots with plenty of horse manure and I have been picking every 2 or 3 weeks all through the #Adelaide #summer Wishing you abundant #rhubarb all your summer too ☀️

A question though - is it safe to give the leaves to the chickens?

@ecoscore I'm hoping for a bumper harvest too. No idea about chickens, I'm afraid.
@thechattygardener looks amazing!
@Faith22 tasted wonderful. The first of the season is always best.
@thechattygardener what’s your favorite recipe? Our house came with SIX huge rhubarb and I don’t know what to dooooo!
@donkeyherder stewed with orange juice and stem ginger, add strawberries when they’re in season. It makes a compote that’s great on porridge - Tom Kerridge recipe. Rhubarb freezes well - lovely taste of summer in winter.
@thechattygardener mine wasn't quite long enough to pick yesterday. Will try next week.
@calcitestar we only just had enough that was long enough but the rain this week has encouraged it.
