The #SanPedroRiparianNCA deserves better than to be used as a nasty cow pasture. This is a biodiversity hotspot, an important flyway, a ribbon of green in a sere landscape. #BureauofLandManagement needs to get its act together or we'll have to sue... again.... and again.... and again....

Conservationists chart livestock damage at San Pedro River preserve

Surveyors documented water fouled with cow feces and streamside habitat trampled in places where cattle are prohibited. A long-awaited roundup of stray cattle is now scheduled.

Arizona Daily Star

In this story, the rancher describes the scenario thusly:
".... two dummies like he and I go into debt ranching the first year and they’re trying to jerk our leases out of there.”

Said dummies bought the ranch in the middle of the process to determine whether ranching would continue on the #SanPedroRiparianNCA, a place that was never legally authorized for #grazing in the first place.

Hard to dispute his assessment.

@WesternWatershedsProject It's astonishing that these government agencies, which are supposed to be following the best available science, continually ignore science of all kinds, especially when the evidence is so overwhelming that what they're doing is wrong.

It's depressing that I saw this toot out of context and it could be referring to so many situations around the globe.
