Did you know that pet phamarcies can compound pet medicines into many forms, so if you buy them outside of your vet (which has a markup anyway, just get the prescription) you can get them to make tuna flavored treats that actually contain the life saving medicines your cat needs, or a chicken flavored liquid you can add to the food?

This has been such a game changer for me!

If you have a particularly fussy cat you can even get them to make it transdermal. They put it in a syringe and then give you instructions on how to slather it on your gloves so your cat thinks you are just petting them :)

Chewy has one and I use them, but I also use others. Just look up compounding pharmacy, most of them can sell direct and do but you need the pet’s rx.

@skinnylatte US only? Singapore doesn't have cat pharmacies (and barely any human pharmacies as well, i don't think Watson really counts)
@yeri yeah US only. Singapore vet care is quite some distance behind (my dog had a years-long issue that was never solved in Singapore or Malaysia but was resolved in 2 weeks in the US. It was explained to me as that in the US they have access to very specific types of antibiotics for dogs, whereas in Singapore we only had one broad based one and if that didn’t work, it didn’t work.
@skinnylatte Myeah... Our dog recently died due to blood infection and they couldn't pinpoint why/how/what. They wanted to send a blood sample to the US to get better information on the bacteria in the blood but getting the result would take 2-3 weeks... Needless to say the dog didn't have that much time :/
@skinnylatte they can also compound into topical compounds. My cat gets his daily thyroid medicine with a dose clicker to his ear.
@skinnylatte Or injectable - our cat hardly even noticed getting shots.
@skinnylatte
My Murphle (of blessed memory) would fight me to the end against a pill, but getting her 1/2 teaspoon of albacore with "special sauce" on it was just her due as the queen of the house. Shout out to Northwest Compounders, for folks in the PDX area....
