Never underestimate the power of stupid people who are able to stay on message. Truth, facts, logic and reason are all wasted on these people.

We will continue to lose to morons if we don't change our approach to this. The moral high ground is pretty meaningless if we get legislated out of existence because we played by rules that the other side ignored.

@bleakfuture there is a reason no one sells lawnmowers by airing commercials with someone reading technical specs from an engineering manual.
They have rock music flashy colors and sex.
Emotion drives people to action en masse, much more than logical arguments.
Voting is an action.
Stop trying to logic out way out of this, you are bring a tech manual to a fast food commercial

@voron this is a very good point. If you can’t sell it in 30 seconds then it’s too complex for Joe Sixpack who’s been fed garbage on TikTok and Facebook every day since Obama was inaugurated.

I live in an ultra red Midwest state and it isn’t the amount of misinformation that scares me so much as it is the consistency of the message I hear over and again from all walks of life.

GOP has mastered messaging for low curiosoiry voters.

@bleakfuture Right wing radio rules rural America in Wisconsin 80 stations play a variety of local/regional & national RW talk usually before &/or after sports & farm reports, which the zealots then blast on their FB pages to friends & family via cellphones not to mention all the YouTube & podcast stuff and they all use the same talking points.

@voron hell the sports radio is turning right wing in Indianapolis. Dan Dakich was the most popular sports broadcaster and has now left terrestrial radio for Outkick with Clay Travis because he was getting canceled for his takes locally.

@bleakfuture Elon is trying to turn Twitter into a talk radio sports thing btw sports drives activity on Twitter more than anything else. That & monetizing disinformation is the plan. He has gotten state gop politicos to love him so has gotten sweet EV deals in red states now that we’re freezing Tesla out

@bleakfuture now as to strategy we can point to the failure to contest the GOP “project red map” which flooded state legislative races with out of state money to take over state legislatures with the express purpose of changing redistrictricting & election rules….state parties screamed for help the dnc told them to “f off” we are seeing the results, time to reverse this and give battle

@bleakfuture Agreed, if we are to beat back authoritarianism we have to drum up people for primaries big time & work for instant run off &/or ranked choice voting at the state & local lvls. Focusing on campaign finance, economic reform & transparency b/c without that everything else is ten times harder.
Then just vote against the gop in the general & for whoever
