@hydropsyche this looks like a partial april fools joke
@Timpostma It is absolutely not a joke. Beavers are amazing!
@hydropsyche yeah i get what your saying for instance beaver might not know swear words
@hydropsyche yes beavers are smart enough for construction but what about aggressive behavior
@Timpostma I have no idea why you're coming back to this 6 months later, but beavers really aren't aggressive. They're herbivores and mostly just scared of people. I intentionally work in places where beavers live, and I rarely even see them. The only case of beaver aggression I've ever heard of was in a rabid animal--rabies makes non-aggressive animals aggressive.
@hydropsyche This is very interesting - we're near a privately run nature preserve where they are struggling to manage the beavers' zeal. Thank you for sharing!
@dandelion Unless you're in South America or Australia, the beavers are part of your natural systems and are making the nature preserve better habitat for everyone else.
@hydropsyche Agreed! And they (at the preserve) are trying too. But a few gentle adjustments may be necessary to have us all live side by side - like keeping the road from flooding....
@hydropsyche First time I've heart it called a pond leveler. Usually I hear them called beaver deceivers.
@neia I believe "beaver deceiver" is trademarked? It is a great name!
@hydropsyche someone earlier today posted that apparently fishers went in a complete 180 with regards to beavers, because the actual affected streams now are a lot better and have much larger healthier fish, which lead me down an interesting rabbit hole
@hydropsyche what's a pond leveller?
@hydropsyche The Beaver's face in the "Don't destroy dams" panel always makes me laugh.
