Autism Acceptance Week and Applied Behavior Analysis

The only way ABA knows how to “train” a child, to “motivate” them..is to negate their needs or take away their joy.Autism Acceptance Week and Applied Behavior Analysis

@helenagullen strong disagree. I’m an RBT and every single kid I’ve ever worked with will look back on their years in therapy with love. ABA history is one of abuse and trauma, I’d never try to say otherwise. It just ain’t the sane. Leaders in the field finally started including autistic voices and it became something better. Modern, progressive ABA is fun, engaging, and improves lives. It creates joy, not takes it.

@llwright Clearly you’ve missed the part where this was a repost from another website. You’ve also missed the part where it’s NOT about you or your perceptions but about people that have gone through ABA. What you think people should feel, and what people actually feel are two very different things.

ABA is abuse dressed up as therapy born from conversion therapy tactics. In fact it has many of the same tactics pedophiles use for grooming children or cults either of which should indicate just how awful the practice is. So congrats on your opinion and about trying to make it about you but I’ll pass on both.
