White people on the fedi are hypervigilant of other communities because they are deathly afraid of being treated like how they've treated others on most platforms.

But that's the irony of whiteness. They create the problems they are afraid of and blame us for not adjusting to their bigoted hysteria because they can't leave us alone.
There are brilliant people on the fedi from all walks of life. LGBTQ, Black, Brown, neurodiverse, and the incalculable amount of overlap of those few descriptors.

The single greatest obstacle to progress in the fedi is the idea that whiteness should dictate what the core experience in this space should look like.

Whiteness cannot entertain the infinite potential of this space because it is an ideology that even hates itself.

And we are in a challenging transition away from it.
@Are0h this is why I can’t stand working with benevolent dictator for life projects. Doesn’t matter if they’re OSS or not; they’re stuck with the dictator.
@Are0h I absolutely love the phrase "a challenging transition away from whiteness" - thank you for that, it is going to guide my thinking.
@Are0h Applies equally substituting "the world" for: "fediverse." That's actually how I interpreted it as I read it.
@Are0h Just so long as I don’t have to switch to a dark app theme, because my eyes can barely focus with my glasses with dark text on white background
@Are0h I’m just complaining about how hard it is to read on my phone. Some forms of whiteness are all right, just not the cultural ones (I’m a visual designer)
@ChrisBoese How did you read what I said and believe I am talking about color theory?
@Are0h No, not at all. And I strongly believe in everything you said. There are just some things about whiteness I value.
