Another Southeast Asian conversation:

"Do you-- ah, so you're burning incense."
"Mmmhmmm"
"Smells nice. Had me worried for a second."
"Mother, it's Ramadhan."

@cendawanita Hindu homes burn incense every day. I don't like it but have to live with it my whole life. 😂
@abhijith
Hahahah and Malaysian Malays barely do it anymore unless they're modern (me) or about to do some rituals (LMAOOOO) but really it's because any sudden nice smells is usually a sign of supernatural presence, hence the conversation, hahahha
@cendawanita Wow.. 😂 I don't know why I hated incense, perfume, talc powder etc since I was a kid. Dislike for perfume had to be overcome during my stay in Mumbai, After 1 hour train journey and half an hour walk, not even a skunk would want to be near me.
@abhijith
I can only imagine! Hahahaha, i only get that overwhelmed when I pass by the shophouse/street altars because other than that, we're not too scent-heavy... Uh, except frying spices and all the other fermented stuff we love 🤣🤣🤣
