Wow, they can fuck right off into the sun with that bullshit.
@cyborgurl what if an rss reader was evil

@cyborgurl I started getting impatient with Feedly when they started aggressively pushing their enterprise-level services at me.

I already had a paid personal account I used for work, and was happy to throw money at it because I didn't want it to go away like Google Reader did. But then I noticed that Feedly was getting very interested in which feeds I was reading and that's when I started to get a little antsy.

Haven't found a decent replacement yet, but wow did they burn their goodwill.

@cyborgurl I'm _so_ glad someone is thinking of the companies for a change. /S
Why is Feedly so in to AI? The way I want to use an RSS reader is similar to the way I use Mastodon: I have chosen some specific blogs, and I have chosen some specific Mastodon users, and all I want is a chronological list of recent posts from those blogs/users.
@kdnyhan someone tried to introduce Feedly at my company and my basic response was - having been burnt by GReader, why would I invest time and effort in a corporate system having already signed up for all the feeds I want and that are likely only going to interest me, and I don't want the same stuff rehashed by the people looking for clicks polluting my feed.

@ghusk @kdnyhan They started out as much more of a streamlined Google Reader replacement service right on the heels of Reader getting axed. Over the last couple of years, they've been very aggressive about pushing "enhanced" services (including AI aggregation) for enterprise-level corporate clients.

I was a paying customer early on when they were focused on individual users who just wanted to read the news without going to 50 different websites and platforms, but I got out a bout a year ago.

@Jimbotron @ghusk Probably time to do the same. Just saw a rec for @newsblur - any other suggestions?
@cyborgurl it would actually be useful wouldn’t it be such a garbage.

@cyborgurl @GossiTheDog

I mean what the shit?! Immediately deleted #feedly with no regrets.

@cyborgurl Companies when they say they don't need a ethics committee:

jesus fuck

@cyborgurl Migrated to InoReader yesterday as a result of this. Feeder (feeder.co) seems decent enough too. Hopefully won't find out the people who run those services are terrible humans now.
