Every day is like "starting tomorrow only people who post โ€˜Elon is cool' will be eligible to have their tweets appear in English" and the entire press corps and all of my friends continue to post there like nothing has changed
@caseynewton I understand the people who feel they need to post there for work and stuff. And I *kinda* understand people who are just lazy and feel like getting set up here is too much work. But... uh... yeah. Don't understand the people who insist nothing has changed and just keep keeping on.
@mmasnick There's a middle position that I'm in. I mostly follow and rarely post on social platforms. So if journalists, comedians, etc are still over there, then what I'm left with is a fairly barren Masto timeline. I'd love to switch, but I'm the audience rather than the performer.

@bhammerslag @mmasnick

Even if you never post on Twitter, you're a performer. The platform needs eyeballs for metrics ... the metrics people like journos, etc. insist they have to stay on Twitter for ... no matter how monstrous the person who profits (Musk) becomes.

You are the eyeballs--part of the metrics enhancing the reason for others to stay.
