I finished book 20 which was K.J. Heritage's (@kjheritage), "The Scowl".

You all know the hero in a story. You know the type: handsome, square jaw, wearing a cool looking outfit, perfect hair and whenever they smile, there is a flash of light and you hear *ting*. The Scowl is the direct opposite of that hero. He is a hideous, deformed being that repels all. His personality matches his looks making for quite an unexpected hero of the book, more like an anti-hero.

(Continued in part 2)

(Part 2)

With Scowl's evil iron sword in hand, he is unstoppable. Iron and gold are considered evil in this works and it is Scowl's mission to destroy delving (mining) of those metals wherever it may be happening.

The Scowl's traveling companion during the 3 stories that make up this book is the young, beautiful Vareena Krail. A noble woman who is more at home wielding her sword and fighting than in noble situations.

(part 3)

I like that the protagonist of the story is not the typical hero. It's also an interesting twist that iron and gold, typical mainstays of the fantasy story are considered evil in this world. This was a very good book.
