1/23 Why explore the #PartySwitch?

#WhiteSupremacists like to deny it happened. Some just don't know any better but, from those who do, this is a flag - are they hiding something?

All our threads in this discussion thus far (which I've saved on Medium pending a better way to do this, see https://medium.com/@DuaneAubin) have provided broader context towards enhancing clarity for so much of #AmericanHistory and the current state of affairs, and this topic is no different in that regard.

7/23 The southern Democrats basically said "look, #RutherfordBHayes, you and your Republicans can have the White House if you'll withdraw your federal troops from our South and just leave us states the rights to do our own thing down here."

As we saw in the massacres thread, African-American registered voters in, for example, Louisiana, went from ~130,000 in 1896 to just ~1300 by 1904.

Doing their own thing meant the states' rights to maintain and enforce systematic #WhiteSupremacy.
