OMG I cannot stop laughing. Generation Z freaking ROCKS.

#GenZ #LOL #TinyJoyYYC

@micropainter Fabulous. β€οΈπŸ˜‚
@micropainter I hate to say it, but...if she's currently "like 12", then she'd have been born in 2011 (or so), which would make her part of the generation that comes AFTER Generation Z πŸ˜¬β€‹ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Alpha
Generation Alpha - Wikipedia

@IPEdmonton @micropainter I've seen alpha defined within start_Ξ± = { 2010, 2012, 2015 } so πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
@micropainter I remember seeing this when it happened. Such a great story. Ah, old twitter. It wasn't all hellsite all the time.
@micropainter It really bothers me that at no point in this interaction did anyone think about the fact that this whole story is framed around a child who is being exploited for her labor?
@scott @micropainter No, the Girl Scouts sell cookies to develop entrepreneurial skills and financial literacy. The funds go primarily to support their "troop," local org. While I'm sure there are different levels of engagement with it, I don't think it's exploitation.

@micropainter

As funny as it might seem (and regardless which generation she now belongs to exactly) - all I see here is a probably 12 year old kid, who is already forced to be able to deal with adult men behaving inappropriately towards her.

And that is neither funny nor cool.

@micropainter IKR? They're not snowflakes at all , they just refuse to put up with bullsh!t, whether it's sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, the climate crisis, exploitative employers , etc. As a #GenX embarrassed by how passive & accepting of neoliberalism I was in my youth, I also think #GenZrocks !
@micropainter I was a Girl Scout. The Girl Scouts are like the Marine Corps. Once you're a Girl Scout, you always are, and we do not play.

@chickgonebad @micropainter

I've heard amazing things about the women of the Marine Corps so: apt comparison!

@micropainter Oh, wow, I did not expect that punchline 😢
@micropainter Very cool! But I think 12 is a little young for Gen Z?
@samhainnight the last of gen Z were born around 2012, according to Pew Research Centre, but there's always crossover I guess. As a 1980 baby, I'm the last of Gen X (again according to Pew) but obviously my life experiences are the same as that of older Millennials. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
@mikestevens Which is funny to me because when I was little in the 1970’s I was told I was on the tail end of Gen X. But I suppose it depends on who you ask.
@micropainter every new generation gets roasted by the priors for being entitled and lazy. Gen Z does not deserve that standard line, they're great. The kids are alright and I as a millennial will insult anyone who says differently.

@StreetFur @micropainter +1

I may gently tease about "GenZ things" sometimes, but they're going to damn well save us all.
